Stovetop Popcorn
How to make Alstede Fresh Popcorn on stovetop or in microwave
How-to remove the kernels from the cob to pop on your stovetop:
First start with a bowl or container where you are working.
Choose 1 line of kernels and put a little pressure on the first kernel.
They will become loose and fall into the bowl. Continue to remove the kernels just from that row.
Once they are all removed, you can then put just a little pressure on the next row or (rows) 1 or 2 at a time and the kernels will easily come off into the bowl. Continue until all the kernels are removed.
Store in a dry place in a tightly sealed jar for up to a year.
Pop the kernels in a pan with a tight fitting lid. Start by adding a little oil to the pan and next the kernels and lid. Pop on stove for about thirty seconds, careful to avoid burning.
How-to pop the corn on the cob using your microwave:
Start by placing the ear of corn in a brown paper bag, top folded down to keep steam in. Place bag in your microwave and pop on the microwave’s popcorn setting until you hear popping begin to stop.
Pour in bowl and remove cob. Add melted butter, salt and spices to taste.
Try experimenting with spices to create your own flavor profile. Parmesan cheese, cinnamon sugar, or paprika make great combinations.
