From your kitchen: 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 cup granulated white sugar 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup milk 1 large egg, lightly beaten 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled 1 cup prepared cranberry sauce Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Place rack in the middle of the oven. Spray, with a non stick vegetable spray, 12 muffin tins. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix together the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted and cooled butter. Add the milk and egg mixture to the flour mixture. Stir just until combined. Do not over mix the batter or the muffins will be tough when baked. Evenly divide the cranberry mixture among the 12 well greased muffins cups and then evenly spoon the batter over the cranberry sauce. Place in the oven and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until very lightly browned and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Place on a wire rack to cool for about 2 minutes, and then invert them onto a cooling rack so the the cranberry topping is face up.

An Experience for all Senses

An Experience for all Senses

Pick your own is a multifaceted experience on our farm. Not only do you have the opportunity to see how food is grown, but it is also an experience for all your senses. The first thing you will notice upon arriving at our farm is the neatly maintained property, including the fields and picking rows. Our team works diligently to ensure the grounds are well-kept, including well-drained earth for soil and water conservation efforts and guest experience. The next thing you will notice is the friendly faces of our helpful team, detectable by blue-uniformed shirts, who will guide you on your adventure. Enjoy a family photo in the oversized chairs while waiting to board your tractor-drawn wagon ride. The ride takes you up and around the various orchards, fields, and farm pathways through the 380 farm acres to one of the most scenic vantage points and highest points in Chester Township, signified by the cross atop the peach orchards.  Scenic Farmland Hop off and then back on at any of our various stops along the way, or stay on the wagon if you are a first-timer to get a lay of the land and soak in the scenery and the sounds of farm life. Your map (provided at check-in) will highlight the various things available for picking, and your admission provides access to all the picking fields. Plan to spend some quality time immersing yourself in the farm vibe and studying the various farm murals to learn about different things on our farm, such as peaches, birds, pollinators and more.  Once in the picking fields or orchards, pay attention to directional signs to designate which areas are ripe for picking. Our expansive farm will typically have crops in various stages of maturity, and following these guidelines will provide you with the best quality for picking. Where else can you get so up close and personal with your food?  Pick your own is now open for the season with our first crop of strawberries. You can smell the sweet aroma of strawberries as you enter the fields where you will spend time filling your container. Remember to pick only the fully ripe strawberries for the best-tasting fruit. Watch our video to learn how to pick the perfect berry. Take in the beauty of the scenery of the contrasting red berries against the green leaves, just gorgeous!  A Farm for All Seasons Next in season are peas, beets, raspberries, and blueberries. Utilizing our handy pick-your-own-harvest schedule helps identify when your favorite fruits and vegetables are in season. Our season lasts (typically) from June through November with opportunities for making a fresh discovery every time you visit. We grow over 250 varieties of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers in season providing you with so many chances to taste and see something new.  Produce that has been freshly picked tastes different and has a more vibrant color. Fresh-picked produce allowed to ripen naturally in the fields retains all of the vibrant colors and flavors nature intended and is healthier for you. Consuming farm-ripened fruit and vegetables when they are the most nutrient-dense provides you with the optimum vitamins and minerals versus produce that has to be transported long distances.  Once you’ve picked to your heart’s content, hop back on the wagon or walk the country farm lanes back to the farm exit. There you will be greeted by our friendly farm animals including chickens and roosters, ducks, donkeys, and bunnies. Tomasello Winery’s outdoor courtyard and the Farm District Food Court are nearby, where you can enjoy freshly made pizzas, donuts, and other hot and cold foods and beverages. Travel down the hill to the farm store to shop from an array of farm fresh products to take home with you.  Make your last stop (or first stop) to our ice cream stand to taste some of the best homemade ice creams, such as Strawberry Cheesecake, Honey Lavender, and even a Vermont classic titled the Maple Creemee. A visit to our farm to pick your own is truly a delight for all the senses, with plenty of events planned throughout the season. Visit our website for more info and to plan your trip!
