Rightly so, the value we place on nutrition as it relates to our well being has become paramount along with the increased desire for taking care of our planet for future generations.

Nutrition is a critical part of health, development, and longevity and a healthy lifestyle starts with the basics of healthy food. Knowing how your food is grown is the first step toward achieving a healthy lifestyle and being more proactive in living a greener life.

We are privileged to provide this brief introduction to our farming practices and how we go about taking care of our land, our team members and our community as part of our unique sustainable methodology.

What is Sustainable Farming? It’s defined as the adoption of environmentally sound agricultural methods aimed at preserving natural resources. Sustainable farming preserves two valuable resources, water and soil, through various methods including; crop rotation, implementation of cover crops, soil and water conservation.  All of which ultimately replenishes and preserves nutrients in the soil thus producing healthier food and mitigating changes to the climate.

How do we go about growing healthier food using sustainable farming  practices? It starts with the soil structure.  By increasing organic matter on our farm it improves the soil fertility which is healthier for the food we grow and healthier for the environment. Healthier soil reduces soil erosion and keeps more carbon in the soil thereby reducing carbon in the atmosphere. Higher levels of organic matter also improve water quality which positively impacts the entire ecosystem which includes; plants, people and animals. We feel this is essential to meet food production needs and to preserve the land for future generations.

Sustainability also trickles down to our region as a whole to include our team members and those in the community. Growing healthy food and protecting the land provides economic stability for our team members and the entire region by supporting the local economy with jobs and goods and services. It also increases the diversity of our food system providing options to eat healthy, local foods all while preserving the natural resources within the community. We know our processes have impacts and are honored to be stewards of this land while it is entrusted to us.

Thanks for taking time to learn more about our philosophy and we appreciate your support of local agriculture.
