CHESTER, NJ (August 16, 2019) – Alstede Farms participated in an agricultural tour with Congressman Tom Malinowski hosted by the Morris County and Hunterdon County Board of Agriculture on Friday, August 16th. Congressman Malinowski, U.S. representative for New Jersey’s 7th congressional district, toured family farms recognizing local farms and agriculture as an important part of the state’s economy and their role and contributions to the community foodscape. Participating in the tour from Morris County and Hunterdon County were Alstede Farms, Ashley Farms, Stony Hill Farms, Snowbird Farms, Ort Farms, Beneduce Vineyards, Clucas Farms, Copper Creek Nursery, and Rutgers Snyder Research Farm. Representatives from American Farm Bureau, Farm Credit East, and Rutgers Cooperative Extension were also present.
Alstede Farms had the pleasure of hosting the group for a farm to table lunch highlighting the local and seasonal items grown right in Chester, N.J. including; roasted freshly picked cauliflower, onions, peppers and summer squash, and creamed sweet corn along with a peach and berry dessert cake.
