We love featuring the wonderful team working for us on our farm. This week’s highlight features Maria & Sindy, the dynamic duo in our food service division. Maria has worked all different facets of our farm learning all the way. She worked our tailgate markets where she helped guests shop for our delicious produce before heading over to our kitchen. Maria began working for us over twenty years ago and is at completely at home in our farm kitchen preparing all of our homemade dips & salsa’s along with heading up our bakery department. You might say cooking is in her genes, as she naturally inherited her fabulous cooking skills from her household back in Morelos Mexico. It’s all in the family for Maria as both of her parents, her brother, and sister all worked on our farm either cooking or growing farm fresh food. Maria’s knowledge goes beyond the ordinary and I bet she has a homemade recipe for every bit of produce we grow on our farm. If you have tried our homemade quiches, baked goods, salsas, salads, soups, and guacamole then chances are that Maria lovingly prepared that for you! Maria has also spent time caring for the Alstede children and family in addition to her many skills above.
Sindy has been working for us for over fourteen years originally starting out in our garden center where she took
care of our large array of flowers, vegetable transplants and baby plants in our greenhouses. Sindy takes pride that she educated herself about plants, seeds and the care of all different kinds of fruits & vegetables while working in the greenhouses. Sindy also helped care for the Alstede children and family for eight years and the farm is where she met her true love Marcos. Marcos worked for our production team growing food at the time they met and still does and they make up one happy family with their son. Sindy is famous for making delicious homemade ice cream for our ice cream stand. Her knowledge of fresh produce is always useful when we need to prepare delicious catered platters for guest and team celebrations on our farm or when working with Maria in food service in the kitchen. Sindy also helps out with food preparation in our hen house concession truck alongside her father, Mateo, and can be seen preparing pancakes at our infamous breakfasts.
We consider ourselves so very blessed to have Maria & Sindy in our farm kitchen, loyal to us for so many years. Next time you are visiting our farm, be sure to stop by and say hello to both of these incredible people.
