You’ve heard of the benefits of buying local - now we’re offering you a great way to enjoy fruits and vegetables grown right here in Chester and have the opportunity to make an investment in these locally grown foods, which in turn helps to keep New Jersey green!
Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA, is a relationship between the farmer and his customers - knowing the farmer that produces the food your family eats. With a pre-season payment, you purchase a share of our season’s harvest. Your commitment supports the actual running costs of the farm, and in turn you then receive a weekly share of fruits and vegetables during the course of our 27 week harvest season, from May to November. See an article in this year's March/April issue of Weight Watcher's Magazine to learn the benefits of joining a CSA Club.
27 Weeks of Harvest
Fresh fruit and vegetable production remains the primary business for Alstede Farms. And the Alstede Farms team is growing a wider selection of produce than ever before. Your membership entitles you to a share of the weekly harvest, at minimum a 1/2 bushel - approximately 25 lbs - containing different fresh items every week. We also offer a half-share option which entitles you to approximately 12 lbs of produce per week. See our enrollment options below. The first shares will be distributed on Thursday, May 27, 2010 - just in time for Memorial Day weekend. Shares will be distributed weekly with the last share to be distributed on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, just before Thanksgiving. A perfect time to enjoy the last fruits of the harvest!
Fresh Produce, Fresh Ideas
Your share will reflect the growing seasons on the farm. The contents will always be changing, and we will work to include as much variety as possible. We will also provide you with nutritional information, recipe ideas and tips on preparing and preserving your harvest. What a great way to teach your family about the growing seasons on the farm and treat them to new tastes and experiences!
